Angel Step counts your steps and shows you a sky. It has no accounts, no analytics, and nothing to sell. Almost everything it knows never leaves your iPhone — this page says exactly what the exceptions are.
What stays on your phone
With your permission, Angel Step reads three kinds of data from Apple Health:
- Step count — the number you see, so it matches the count your iPhone and Apple Watch already keep.
- Walking + running distance — the quiet line under the number.
- Active energy — the other half of that line.
Angel Step only reads this data. It never writes anything into Apple Health, and it never asks for permission to.
While the app is open, it also uses Motion & Fitness (your iPhone's motion sensor) so the number can move as you walk, instead of waiting for Health to catch up.
Your days, your streak, your goal, and the things you collect are stored on your device, in the app's own storage and in a shared container that lets the widget show the same number as the app. None of it is uploaded to us.
We never use your health or fitness data for advertising, marketing, or profiling. We don't sell it, share it, or mine it. There is no one to share it with.
What leaves your phone — and only if you use invites
If a friend invites you to walk (or you invite someone), the app writes a small record to Apple's iCloud, in a database that belongs to Angel Step. That record contains exactly four things:
- the invite code of the person who invited you;
- a random token generated for your phone;
- the time the invite was accepted;
- the time the first walk was finished, once it is.
That is the whole record. No steps, no name, no email, no location, no device identifier — nothing that points back to you. Its only purpose is to let the person who invited you know that you took your first walk, so the sky they were promised can arrive.
If you never use an invite, nothing is ever written.
Payments
If Angel Step ever offers a paid upgrade, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card, your billing address, or your Apple Account. We only learn whether this device has an active purchase.
What we do not do
- No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising SDKs, no attribution networks.
- No accounts, no sign-up, no email list, no password.
- No cookies — not in the app, and not on this website.
- No third-party services beyond Apple's own (Health, iCloud, the App Store).
Because we don't share your data with anyone, there is no third party to hold to the same standard as this policy. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
How long it is kept
Everything on your device lives there until you delete it. Deleting Angel Step deletes all of it — your history, your collection, your settings — and there is no copy anywhere else.
Invite records are kept only as long as the invite loop needs them, and are removed on request. Revoking Apple Health access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health stops all reading immediately; the app keeps working, with less to show.
Your choices
- Take permission back at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.
- Delete everything by deleting the app.
- Ask us to delete an invite record, or ask what is stored about your invites, by writing to the address below. We'll answer, and do it.
Children
Angel Step is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. There is, in any case, nothing to collect.
Changes
If what the app does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves. We don't quietly extend what we collect.
Who we are
Angel Step is made by an independent developer, not a company. You can reach a human at hello@angelstep.app.
